Under 19 National Cup: Cork City 4-1 UCD

Lehane Goal v UCD

Cork City’s Under 19’s cruised in to the quarter finals of the Enda McGuill Cup with a comfortable win over UCD at Coláiste Stiofán Naofa on Saturday afternoon. For the second time in seven days City put four goals past the Students in what turned out to be a one sided encounter where the home side once more had the tie wrapped up at half time.

Rob Lehane, Ross McCarthy, Danny Morrissey and Stephen Kenny hit the net in the first half to seal the win for City as they did almost all the running in the opening period. The hosts even had a penalty saved by Niall Corbert after Stephen Kenny was fouled in the area. UCD managed to convert a penalty of their own in the second half, but it was City who progress to the last eight of the competition after another convincing win.

Next Sunday, City will travel to Tallaght to take on Shamrock Rovers in league action and will look to preserve their six point advantage over second placed Waterford United.
