Under 19 League: UCD 2-4 Cork City

Cork City’s Under 19’s served up one of their best performances of the season in Belfield Park on Sunday afternoon. For the first seventy minutes of this tie they gave their opponents a torrid time and made light work of the difficult conditions to maintain their six point lead at the top of the table.

A first half hat trick from Danny Morrissey was no more than the visitors deserved after bossing the first half, and when Stephen Kenny made it 4-0 early in the second half it effectively killed off the match as a contest. UCD managed to salvage some pride when Robbie Slater and Dean Clarke both found the net late on, but City’s superiority in all aspects of the play meant the points were always destined for the visitors.

The Under 19’s will face UCD again next Sunday when they welcome the students to Bishopstown for the Enda McGuill Cup second round clash at 2pm.
