Our Special Guests For Friday’s Game

Turners.cross

This Friday we welcome the 105th Infantry Battalion to Turner’s Cross as the club’s special guests.  We are delighted to bring supporters of Cork City FC their message to you all:

Between the 17/11/2011 and the 27/11/2011 437 personnel of the 1st Southern Brigade, Defence Forces Ireland will deploy to South Lebanon as the 105th Infantry Battalion UNIFIL, (United Nations Interim Force In Lebanon). They will deploy for a six month tour of duty under the command of Lieutenant Colonel Philip Brennan.

As part of the UNSCR 1701 mandate, the troops will be tackling a wide range of issues. These include monitoring a cessation of hostilities, assisting the Government of Lebanon and the Lebanese Armed Forces in providing a safe and secure environment in South Lebanon and extending its assistance to ensure humanitarian access to the civilian population.

The 105th Infantry Battalion extends a warm appreciation to Cork City F.C. for donating the two signed jerseys. These will be raffled amongst the Irish troops in South Lebanon, and all proceeds will then be used to help the local population of South Lebanon through various humanitarian projects that the 105th Infantry Battalion will be undertaking once deployed in November 2011.

The 105th Infantry Battalion wishes Cork City F.C. a prosperous coming season and thanks Cork City F.C. for supporting Defence Forces Ireland.
