Cork City Football Club continued their unbeaten away record this season after a 0-0 draw with Finn Harps in Ballybofey.
After just 5 minutes, Uros Hojan went down injured, being replaced by Eoin Forde. City had the better of the opening exchanges. Graham Cummins latched onto Ian Turner’s cross from the right after 15 minutes, but his header went inches wide.
The Lordan brothers combined moments later, Cillian playing Cathal in on goal, his shot was blocked and Shane Duggan headed the rebound over.
Eoin Forde had the best chance of the half on the half hour mark, Davin O’Neill with the pass but Forde’s shot was tame and easily saved by Liam Mailey. Greg O’Halloran’s last ditch tackle on Kevin McHugh denied Harps a goal scoring opportunity just before the interval as the sides went in level at the break.
The Leesiders piled on the pressure after the restart, Cummins & O’Neill both testing Malley from close range. A goal looked more and more less likely to arrive with neither side getting a clear-cut sight of goal for the remainder of the game.
Tommy Bonner had the last shot of the game, he made space for a shot and fired his effort toward Mark McNulty’s goal but the Ballincollig native saved well to give both sides a share of the points.
City remain in 7th place after Friday night’s matches, with Salthill Devon up next on Tuesday at Turner’s Cross.
